Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) has always had an inclusive policy for all passengers, including those with disabilities and we welcome all passengers onboard all our ships.The company has a dedicated accessibility coordinator based in its headquarters to handle accessibility issues and recently the company has instituted a training program for shore side employees on accessibility issues.NCL provides the following amenities onboard our ships fleet wide to disabled passengers:
NCL ships have up to 27 staterooms per ship that are wheelchair accessible with grab bars throughout the bathrooms, raised beds, adjustable hanging rods in closets, sinks and toilets, shower seats and extra wide doors for easy access. Five of our ships have alarm pull rods in bathrooms and alarm buttons beside the beds;
NCL welcomes all service animals. For example, visually impaired guests who sail with seeing-eye dogs will be provided a doggie box, which is changed daily by NCL personnel. Additionally, an NCL crewmember will tour the ship with the passenger on the first day to help them get their bearings;
Many NCL ships have Braille indicators in the elevators as well as cabin numbers in Braille text, and closed captioning TV available;
Three NCL ships have staterooms for hearing-impaired guests that include vibrating alarm clocks and an indicating light system that includes fire alarms, doorbells, smoke detectors and telephones to alert passengers;
Those ships that do not have staterooms designated for the hearing impaired, do provide TDD kits, which contain smoke detectors, door knock alerts, wake-up systems and a telephone alert;
All NCL ships have accessible restrooms in a variety of public spaces;
Many NCL ships have dedicated wheelchair positions in the main theaters. If not dedicated, wheel chair seating can be arranged;
Our three new state-of-the-art ships currently under construction will have electrical hoists for access to the pools and Jacuzzis.
NCL values the disabled community as cruising customers and will continue to comply with whatever ADA regulations are established for the cruise industry.
