Miami Florida

Famous for its year-round sunshine and miles of white sand beaches, Miami’s a great place to soak up some rays. Chill out in chic South Beach with its pastel-painted art deco buildings and people-watching pavement cafés, or head inland to the swamps of the Everglades, where alligator watching is more the thing.

Philipsburg St. Maarten

Half-French/half-Dutch and wholly delightful St. Maarten is the smallest territory in the world to be shared by two sovereign states. You'll find superb cuisine, cafes and boutiques in French St. Maarten, and flower boxes on the Dutch side. Take a scenic island drive, drive a birdie at Mullet Bay, or drive a great bargain at one of the duty-free shops; St. Maarten features some of the best buys in the Caribbean.

St. Thomas US Virgin Islands

The waterfront warehouses where gold-hungry pirates once stored their booty now house treasure of another kind: duty-free china, watches, jewellery and other luxury goods. Shopping is one of the big onshore attractions in Charlotte Amalie, the capital of the US Virgin Islands. Offshore, colorful coral reefs in turquoise waters lure snorkelers and scuba divers from all over the world. And everywhere, there's spectacular scenery everyone can enjoy!

Nassau Bahamas

Although Christopher Columbus stopped in the Bahamas in 1492, the Spanish weren't the first Europeans to permanently settle here: the British were. They built forts to protect towns from marauding pirates and left a lasting legacy of British manners. While you're here, try your bargaining skills at the Straw Market. Or choose a historic tour, ride a submarine, sail a catamaran, pet a dolphin or try your luck in a world-class casino.
