Fenway Park By Trolley

ACTIVITY LEVEL Level 1

Tours with this activity level involve walking over relatively level terrain, possibly some cobblestone, gravel, or a few steps. Comfortable shoes are recommended.

Port: Boston, USA
Destination: Canada and New England
Discover the oldest baseball park in the Major League on this half-day outing that includes a narrated scenic drive thorough Boston. 'Stadium' is almost too grand a term for Fenway. Built in 1912, it's smaller than modern parks and full of quirks that only add to its mystique. Seats are narrow, wood-slatted chairs dating back to 1934, many have poor sightlines and no legroom. Incredibly, the scoreboard is still hand-operated, pitchers warm up in bullpens right on the edge of the diamond, in plain view of the spectators. See all that makes this park unique including the lone red seat, the triangle and Williamsburg. Following a 45-minute (upper deck trolley-Princess) drive through scenic Boston, arrive at Fenway where you are greeted by an official Fenway Park guide and escorted through the fabled pitch. Following your tour, browse the Red Sox gift shop before the scenic narrated return to the pier. Note: This tour does not operate on game days. Tour sequence may vary.

Explore the north side of this UNESCO World Heritage Site. Visit Gros Morne Visitors Center, learn about the geological significance of this park and browse through the small gift shop. The Lobster Cove Lighthouse stop introduces the first peoples of North America and the history of the local communities including some famous local shipwrecks. Newfoundland's geological history comes alive at Western Brook Pond where you can view the distant raised inland fjord that was carved by the sea and filled by the ocean a mere 15,000 years ago. In Gros Morne, glimpse the distant Tablelands – a landform described as more closely resembling the surface of the moon than the earth. Much of Gros Morne's fame comes from this huge extrusion of the earth's mantle thrust violently to the surface over 450 million years ago. A light local lunch will be served at the Oceanview Restaurant in Rocky Harbour. Note: The Lobster Cove Head Lighthouse and the Norris Point Lookout are not accessible by wheelchair.
