A guide will meet you at the cruise ship pavilion and take you on an approximately seven-minute walk to the 'Haligonian III' - a purpose-built whale-watching vessel with a fully licensed bar and canteen. This vessel docked at the Tall Ships Quay, offers a choice of decks - the top is open to the fresh air and the bottom is enclosed and heated. Listen to your guide's full commentary as you take in the wonderful sites and wildlife along the coastlines of George's and Mc Nab's Islands before entering the great North Atlantic to experience the majestic views of the world's largest mammals. Enjoy the authentic maritime experience of bringing in live lobster traps while the onboard naturalist answers all of your questions. A short stroll will take you to the Tall Ships Quay where you'll board your tour boat. As the ship pulls away from the dock and into the great North Atlantic, enjoy a brief commentary on Halifax Harbor and prepare to help the Captain and crew pull up the lobster trap. Learn about lobster fishing in Nova Scotia and the life-cycle of lobsters and other crustaceans, even holding a live lobster. Upon releasing the traps back into the ocean, the Captain will make his way towards the first of two or three lighthouses (depending on weather conditions) you'll view on the trip. Learn the importance that lighthouses play in the mariner boating trade in Nova Scotia. After the tour, enjoy a Maritime lobster feast at Murphy's restaurant. Your meal includes a 1 1/4 lbs. lobster accompanied with traditional potato salad, coleslaw, warm rolls, homemade deep dish valley apple crisp, and coffee, tea or iced tea. After lunch you'll have the opportunity to shop for souvenirs at the local waterfront stores before returning to the cruise ship pavilion. Note: Participants must be able to walk approximately 9 minutes from the pier to the Tall Ships Quay. It may get cold, so dress accordingly. Halifax By Harbour Hopper

Your tour begins as your group board's Halifax most popular travel vehicle - a USA military built LARC V locally known as the open-air Harbour Hopper. Enjoy the sights of Halifax while your informative tour guide takes you to four of Halifax's most popular venues. The Halifax Citadel Fortress prominently located in the center of the city overlooks the beautiful harbor. This is a 19th century fort complete with defensive ditch, earthen ramparts, musketry gallery, powder magazine, barracks and much more. You'll reboard the Hopper for a short trip to the Public Gardens, 16 acres of one of North America's oldest and finest Victorian gardens. There you'll have 30 minutes on your own to stroll to enjoy the gardens. Then head to Murphy's Restaurant to enjoy an authentic lunch, which includes a Nova Scotia lobster sensation wrap, accompanied with mixed field greens salad and blueberry vinaigrette, completed with deep dish apple crisp served with coffee, tea and bottled water. After finishing your meal, you'll have the opportunity to enjoy some of the local shops on the waterfront before a three-minute walk to the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic. This museum boasts some of the maritime's richest history, with exhibits such as the age of steamships, the Royal Canadian and Merchant Navies, the Halifax Explosion and Nova Scotia's role in the aftermath of the Titanic disaster. After completing the tour, you'll have the option to go back to the cruise ship pavilion in your Hopper or just simply take your time and make your way back on you own. Visit Halifax's famed Victorian Public Gardens where you'll enjoy a guided walk in a 17-acre oasis in the middle of the city and a photo stop at the Halifax Citadel, the fourth fortress to guard the city since its founding two-and-a-half centuries ago and one of Canada's most popular and most visited national historic sites. Lunenburg

Founded in 1753, Lunenburg has since been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is one of Nova Scotia's most historic towns and a splendid example of a British Colonial settlement. While the drive is approximately 75 minutes, the wait is worth it when you arrive in this charming scenic waterfront town. Enjoying the historic and colorful working waterfront, you can expect your tour guide to regale you with intriguing tales of shipbuilding, fishing, rum running, and even the buried treasure of Oak Island, all part of the local lore. You'll also enjoy the Lunenburgers' unique accent - no doubt the result of their Swiss and German forebears (German was spoken here well into the 1800s). You'll have some time to explore on your own, perhaps to visit the Fisheries Museum of Lunenburg (small fee), where the 'Bluenose II', a replica of Nova Scotia's famous racing schooner of the 1920s was built in 1963. Known as the Ambassador of Nova Scotia, the 'Bluenose I' graces the Canadian dime, and, when not offering tours from the Halifax waterfront, can be found docked here at her home wharf. Returning to Halifax, enjoy a drive through Mahone Bay, famous for its three waterfront churches.

Your tour encompasses all aspects of Halifax's connection to the sinking of the Titanic, including the historic pier from which cable ships were dispatched to pick up victims, the churches, temporary morgue sites, and Fairview Cemetery, where rows of gravestones mark the final resting place of 121 victims. Immerse yourself in history at the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic, which houses an excellent permanent exhibit on the disaster, including photographs, wooden artifacts and the only intact Titanic deck chair in the world. Compare the details of this devastating event to that of the Halifax Explosion, which occurred just five years later. The result of a collision between the Imo and the Mont Blanc, a French munitions ship, the explosion leveled the north end of Halifax, and killed or injured thousands. But most importantly, learn of the compassionate relief effort displayed by the world to help this city and its inhabitants overcome their instant and tragic loss, and rebuild their lives.
