NCL in the Community: Making a Difference
For the past 40 years, NCL has been committed to delivering dream vacations and
creating memories of a lifetime.
At the same time, we are also committed to supporting the communities in
which we live and work. Our philanthropic efforts focus primarily in two
areas, our
cruise donation program and the NCL America Foundation.
Through the NCL Cruise Donation Program, we support worthy charity organizations and their tireless efforts in communities around the world. The company donates more than 100 cruises a year to organizations that have a broad, community-wide appeal in the areas of heath and welfare, children's issues, arts and culture and civic programs.
In 2005, the NCL America Foundation was created to support programs that enhance local communities in Hawai`i by making grants to various charitable not-for-profit organizations.
The foundation supports groups that:
Preserve and protect our oceans, marine life, coral reefs and shore lines;
Educate Hawai'i's, families, children and visitors about the importance of our natural and cultural history and heritage;
Enrich the lives of children and youth.
Since 2001, NCL and NCL America have raised more than $1 million for Hawai`i-based charities through charity events on board its ships. Organizations that the company has supported through this effort include the Aloha United Way, Hawai`i International Film Festival, Bishop Museum, Ready to Learn, U.S.S. Missouri Memorial, Child & Family Service, the Council for Native Hawaiian Advancement, 'Aha Punana Leo (Hawaiian Language Immersion Program) and Kapi'olani Children's Miracle Network. Other Hawai'i-based organizations that NCL has supported include the Kona Outdoor Circle, Kaua'i Planning and Action Alliance, Hilo Medical Foundation, Maui Coastal Land Trust and Aloha Boat Days.
The spirit of corporate giving is an important part of our company culture
- one that each and every team member embraces. Collectively, our team members
have been quick to provide assistance when large-scale disasters have struck
such as Hurricane Katrina and the 2004 Tsunami. We've also assisted our
friends and partners in port destinations who have been have been hit by natural
disasters by donating much needed supplies such as water, food, tarps, flashlights,
batteries, blankets, diapers and baby food.
NCL is proud of its corporate giving programs and to support organizations
that have touched thousands of lives.
NCL Corporation is proud to support non-profit organizations by donating cruises for a variety of fund raising events. By donating cruises, we are able to give organizations an opportunity to raise money to assist them in their efforts to benefit their communities at large.
